Welcoming Party!

My mom hosted a large party "open house" on Sunday, September 7th to celebrate the life of Kairis. (I think she really just wanted an excuse to show off the cutest little girl ever...:) )

I think there were at least 50 guests that came and went...here are some pictures to remember!

Baby Quilt

Kairis, this is your first quilt made by your mom and dad's dear friend, Julie Campbell. This is her first baby girl quilt, and third quilt she's ever made! You love the pretty colors, and I love the uniqueness!

Birthday Memories

Kairis is growing so quickly! She gave me her first real smile on my birthday, while I was changing her diaper and pajamas in the morning. It was totally precious! Kairis, grandma Thomas, and I went on a little shopping trip on my special day as well. We enjoyed Old Navy and Gap Outlet, but I think most of all, I loved dressing her up in this adorable pink skirt and floral onesie. She was so cute! I wish I had pictures to document...soon I hope.

Daddy's Song

I walked in on this earlier this week....so sweet! Tim was singing a sweet song to Kairis, and I could tell she loved it! :)

A Week of Firsts...

Our first week together...if I could sum it up in a few words, they would include: overwhelming amounts of love, contentment, thankfulness, and joyfulness. We spent nearly every moment with our sweet girl, even when she was sleeping deeply--our favorite times of observing her adorable facial expressions. :)

So, her crib is still being occupied by Emma this week. Our girl hasn't laid a foot in it yet. :) Special moments we hope to never forget include:
Dad giving Kairis three squeezes that mean "I love you"...and Kairis responding by looking at him. I'm sure Kairis recognized that, as Tim would tap my belly three times every day and whisper his "I love you's" to Kairis early on.
Poop, lots of poop. I kept making the mistake of changing your diaper on our bed without a pad underneath your underside! I think I changed the sheets 5 times in 2 days last weekend!
Our trip to Mt. Hood last Saturday. Your first adventure with Mom and Dad! Our first run-in with the "baby police"--an elderly lady warning us to "get our rest", and also asking me some very specific things about how you came into the world. Wow!
Your first bath at home.

We've made it through the second week now, and you've gained back all of your birth weight, and doing great. Everyone that sees you comments on how alert of a baby you are, and also how beautiful you are! Your dad and I couldn't agree more! :)

Visitors

Here are a few of your "first visitors" Kairis--we shared a special few hours together right after your birth, but after that, your first visitors started arriving. Most everyone commented on your long fingers and long feet, and how you look just like your momma :) Oh, and how beautiful of a baby you are. (Of course!) Joe, Deanna and Ben

8-8-08

There were four scheduled cesarean sections on August 8, 2008. Tim and I happened to be the only natural delivery at Portland Adventist Hospital on 8-8-08. Our Dr. was so proud that she got to delivery a baby on this special day--I guess I don't follow the signs as much as some do, but in Chinese, 8-8-08 means "Prosperous". Anyway, we were just relieved and excited our girl was able to come when she was ready, as we had a scheduled induction two days later.
