More cool moves

Our baby is on the move! She seems to save all of her new moves for when daddy gets home, so it's a real treat to be able to watch her grow and change together! (plus, she knows daddy wants to get all of this on video, and mommy isn't quick enough to think of recording half of these things! ;) ) Anyway, just last night, she showed us how close she is to crawling! Tim has been concerned that she'll start pulling herself up and walking before she starts really crawling. I think she's proving us wrong. Last night she started doing the "booty scoot" (that's what I call it) She is pushing herself forward with her legs and grabbing onto the bed covers and pulling forward at the same time. She looks like a little inch worm. She is also "spinning" herself around in circles on the floor and can pull herself into our laps when we're sitting down. She's also trying to "climb" onto our legs when she's on the ground and we're sitting in a chair. All of these milestones are taking place in the beginning of her 7th month. I don't think I'm ready for this, yet! It's lots of fun though, watching her grow and do all of these new things. We love you, Kairis! (oh, in some of these pictures, she's trying to sing--the ones with her mouth wide open. We had the radio on some classical station, and she really gets into the music sometimes and tries to mimic the sounds I think)

Another "first"

Kairis started doing THIS on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). We *used* to have a small pack n play set up in our bedroom for her to play in, so she'd stop rolling off the bed....however, she discovered how to do this, so we've taken the play pen and put in storage for now. I'd rather her play on the floor in our room than be in a "cage" that she can't get out of. I think she was super motivated to get out of the play pen because she saw her very special friend jump onto our bed and "meow" at her. How cute! Tim and I got this whole thing on video too...hard to believe that our baby is doing this already!

I'd rather eat Mom's cell phone than play with my "real" toys...

The title says it all! I took these pictures right after our hike in "the woods" with our friends, Kristy and Graceful. She loves playing with my cell phone, but I guess I probably shouldn't let her chew on it since there's an electrical current running through it. ;) She also likes our plastic "indestructible" vent/heat cover. These things can entertain her for more minutes than any of her favorite toys. Go figure!

Don't I look cute?

I think this picture is super adorable--Tim took it right after we cut Kairis' hair three Saturday's ago. We decided to cut her hair short so she would hopefully stop pulling it out. She seems to wrap her fingers around her hair, only at night or when she's really tired, and then in an attempt to get her fingers out of her hair, she ends up pulling the delicate strands out along with it. Ouch! So, Dr. Joel suggested we break this habit and keep her hair short for awhile. I'm sort of sad, but figure now is a great time to be "bald" then later on in life! So far, I think it's working.

Your first hike in the backpack carrier!

We decided to go hiking around Silver Creek Falls last Saturday. It was a great time, and one we won't soon forget. The weather was perfect; light snow on the ground but not too cold or warm. No rain or wind. Just mist coming off of the waterfalls and lots of mud puddles to splash through. Kairis thoroughly enjoyed being outside and even nodded off to sleep in the carrier without a fuss. What fun!

Daddy's experimenting with the camera...

and I think he got some good ones!

Shaking things up a bit...

We decided a bath time in the kitchen sink would motivate mom to actually clean out the sink and save her back from bending over in the bathtub. You seemed to enjoy it, Kairis!

Nearly 7 Months!

My baby's nearly 7 months old! I can hardly fathom that. Kairis is doing lots of new things, and just learned to sit up on her own about 1.5 weeks ago. She's very strong and rarely tumbles backward. She's also turning in circles on the floor and scoots around on her belly pretty well now. When I'm sitting next to her on the floor, she is usually trying to maneuver herself into my lap. It's really sweet...then when I go to pick her up she reaches her arms down toward the floor again and wants to explore her territory. She's also sleeping really well again through the night-ptl! I've noticed that giving her unlimited feedings (demand feeding) throughout her day fills her tummy up more and a nice warm bath at night calms and relaxes...making night time sleepiness fall into place more easily. :) Here are some cute pictures of our darling daughter over the past few weeks.
