We have an almost 18 month old in the house!

1/20/10
This picture reminds me SO much of what I looked like at this age. It's totally unbelievable!

I can't seem to catch up these days on this blog....sweet Kairis, know that your mommy and daddy are enjoying our time so much with you, and that despite me staying on top of this blog marking your growth spurts, new developments and other noteable things....that you are still precious to us, and our time is just divided right now. I'd much rather read you stories, play games, hold your dollies, give you baths and snuggle you than try and "catch up" on the computer these days. I hope I can at the very least post pictures and milestones on here as often as possible, but it definitely won't be as regular as I'd initially anticipated!

Here are a few things you are doing or have been doing since November 23rd, 2009:

Talking more! Words like "hi, bye, frog, dog, duck, more, (mah!), mama, daddy, "no" (as of today!!) and other simple words.

You are becoming more and more extroverted. You enjoy being around people. When we visit Jess and Jered (they are the pastor's at our new church, Endeavor) and their family, you enjoy playing with their girls, Eden, Maddie and Peyton. They really like you!

You love reading books. You consistently bring us books through out the day to read. We love seeing your passion for reading and discovering.

You enjoy pretend play--you like covering your baby dolls with blankets, carrying them in your sling daddy made for you, giving your duck a ride on the boat in the bath tub, pushing stuffed animals down the slide, and playing with your wooden play kitchen set. Last night, I caught you putting something in a pretend microwave, pushing the buttons and closing the door. You are really catching onto "real life" stuff. It's amazing to see how impressionable you are.

You love balls and watching kids play basketball. When we go to the park, your favorite thing is to run into the basketball court and try and get the ball when the kids are playing a game. Kinda gutsy thing to do, but we always keep a close eye on you when you make a mad rash for the ball! :)

You love dogs, and I have to say, are quite gentle when petting them.

You enjoy story time on Monday mornings at the library.

We have two new friends you are enjoying getting to know--Solana and Noah. They are a few months older than you, but we enjoy playing at the park with them weekly.

You are compassionate, gentle, empathetic, observant and a sweet little girl, Kairis. Your daddy wrote a little a recap from the other day he shared below:

Addendum from Dad:

It was maybe 4 or 5 days ago, but I was upstairs checking my email when you came running in all concerned "Uhh! Uhh!" You were distraught like something was TOTALLY wrong in your universe. It had to be something big! "What's up, sweetie?" I asked. "Uhh!" with an outreached arm, you hand me the culprit os disturbing your pretty world. a smaller than pea sized ball of lint. Wow. You are so silly and it amazed me how you have such an eye for details. That will be an asset for you when you are older and a funny story to remember. You are very neat and tidy - NEVER go to bed when a poop is in your pants or even coming down the pike, you enjoy playing in the dishwasher, wiping the floor with anything material (towels, napkins, blankets, shirts..), you close cabinet doors if they are open. Recently you have been taking things out and putting things in the kitchen drawers. Just last night after a messy supper of broccoli, beans, rice and shredded cheese, you "helped" clean up and "put away" the floor scraps in a drawer of clean towels!
I am truly enjoying watching you grow and am excited to see who you will be! I am proud of you Kairis, and I love you tons!

-Dad
