Kairis is officially 6 months and one day today. We celebrated last night, by having a quiet evening at home and enjoyed a nice dinner together. (your dad and I :) ) We reminisced about our time before you came along, and how fast the past 6 months have gone!! Today, we went and saw your favorite Pediatrician, Dr. Joel. He said you are "thriving" and that you've got the cream of the crop kinda life as I'm planning on making your own baby food and keeping things as healthy and natural for you as I can! :) Ha, I don't know what to make of that statement, but I'm taking it as a compliment. :) Anyway, we're going to start introducing solids into your diet in the next month or two. He gave me the go-ahed any time, but did caution that the earlier one starts solids, the more prone they are to being potentially allergic to certain foods later, as baby digestive systems aren't well developed until around this time, or even a bit later than 6 months. So, I'd prefer to play it safe than sorry, and since breast milk is really all you need for the first year, there's no rush! So, we're thinking about all he had to say in the ways of introducing solids to you, and becoming excited to start feeding you ground meats, (yum!), and lots of varieties of vegetables. We're going to go easy on the fruits, as we want you to learn to like other tasty things first, like squash, peas, carrots and avocados. I'm really excited to get a couple books he recommended and educate myself a bit more in this area of infant nutrition. But, first I need to sand down your wooden high chair and put a fresh coat of stain on it, so that you can enjoy your new seat for years to come! Oh, your stats at this appointment are: weight: 15lbs 14oz Height: 26 1/7" and you fall into the 50th% all the way around, though your height is a bit more than your weight, in comparison. I think I could have figured that one out on my own, as you seem tall and skinny! ;) Anyway, you are doing wonderful and we're so proud of you, Kairis! Here are some cute 5-6 month pictures for you to enjoy...(some of these are closer to 5 months....)
